The competition was tough, but Roby fought through the pain, despite a cut finger.

Roby, a psychology graduate, has worked as a wine expert as well as a criminal defense attorney. Prior to her appearance on Food Network, Roby spent some time as a sommelier, pairing wines and foods. She was able to rekindle her love for cooking and the kitchen through this work. Roby's father owned a barbecue joint, so her love for the grill came naturally.

Roby took up cooking barbecue after her first child, despite her legal career. Roby was inspired by her father’s dream to open a barbecue restaurant. Roby took a course in barbecue cooking with celebrity pitmaster Harry Soo. In the end, Roby became a certified pitmaster. She was soon working in a BBQ restaurant.


She began her passion for barbecue as a hobby, and eventually she became obsessed with it. Initially, she prepared dishes on her back patio. She then went on to compete at barbecue competitions all across the country, where she cooked alongside some of the most renowned pit masters in America. She has since opened several pop-ups all around Dayton. She hopes to eventually open a food truck.

Two of the best chefs in the world will team up to challenge each other for the title of ultimate griller in the third season of Food Network's BBQ Team Brawl. Anne Burrell and Jet Tila will be taking on Bobby Flay, Anne and Team Anne in an unforgettable dinner-party brawl. Matt Roth, a favorite of "BBQ Brawl", returns to the Austin-based Smokin Beauty along with his wife Thao.

In the first episode of Food Network BBQ Team Brawl, Ann told the contestants what to make while Team Bobby and Jet let them choose what to make. Team Bobby fell for his ceviche while Jet let them choose. This time, Team Anne has a huge advantage. Anne even reached for an ingredient while Team Bobby was struggling to breathe.

Like all Food Network competitions there are many familiar faces in the new season BBQ Team Brawl. Lee Ann Whippen has been competing in barbecuing over 23 years and will serve as Team Anne's judge. She is also the managing member of Deviled Pig Tampa and a judge in the Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has won many state and global barbecue championships. She also has starred in TV shows like Throwdown With Bobby Flay and BBQ Pitmasters.


Flay, Symon and others fought for the best BBQ sandwich. Lee Ann chose to make a sandwich the traditional way, while Susie chose a more exotic approach. The judges found it too thick, but her pork belly banh mi was a bold experiment in flavor. The Team Anne burger was delicious, juicy, and well-baked.
