Erica Blaire Roby

A recent appearance on the Food Network show Blue Smoke Grill shows that Roby has more than a background in cooking than most people might think. She trained under some of the biggest names in the business and has even won a $7,500 grant from the Preserve the Pit fellowship program. As she faced off against some of America's best chefs, her barbecue skills were put to the ultimate test. Roby was up against tough competition, but she persevered, even with a broken finger.

Roby, a psychology graduate, has worked as a wine expert as well as a criminal defense attorney. Prior to appearing on Food Network as a competitor, she was a sommelier and paired wines with different foods. She was able to rekindle her love for cooking and the kitchen through this work. Roby's father owned a barbecue joint, so her love for the grill came naturally.

Roby began cooking barbecue even though she was a lawyer. She was inspired by her father's dream of opening a barbecue restaurant, so she took up the task. Roby enrolled in the celebrity pitmaster Harry Soo's barbecuing cooking course in 2018. In the end, Roby became a certified pitmaster. She was soon working in a BBQ restaurant.

Barbecue was a hobby that she began to enjoy and then became a passion. At first, she made barbecue dishes from her back porch. Then, she went on to compete in barbecue competitions across the country, cooking alongside world-famous pit masters. She has since opened several pop-ups all around Dayton. She hopes to eventually open her own food truck.

Team Brawl vs. Team Brawl and Team Anne

Food Network BBQ Team Brawl will host its third season. Two of the top chefs in the country will compete to win the ultimate grilling title. Anne Burrell, Jet Tila and Bobby Flay will face off in a dinner party brawl sure to be memorable. The new season also features the return of "BBQ Brawl" favorite Matt Roth, who owns the Austin-based Smokin Beauty with his wife Thao.

Ann gave instructions to the contestants in the first episode Food Network BBQ Team Brawl. Jet and Team Bobby let them decide what they would make. As a result, Team Bobby failed to make his ceviche. This time, Team Anne has a huge advantage. Anne even jumped in front of Team Bobby's contestant as he reached out for an ingredient.

Like all Food Network competitions there are many familiar faces in the new season BBQ Team Brawl. Lee Ann Whippen, a 23-year veteran of barbecuing, will be the team's judge. She is also the managing partner of Deviled Pig in Tampa and a judge for the Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has won numerous national and international barbecue championships.

Flay, Symon and others fought for the best BBQ sandwich. Lee Ann used a more traditional approach while Susie tried something new. The judges found it too thick, but her pork belly banh mi was a bold experiment in flavor. Team Anne's burger tasted great and was well-baked.
